I noticed today that "Aural Vampire" is going to be one of the musical guests at ACEN this year.
My last trip to Japan, the person I visited was friends with the girl in that group. I'm going to ask her if she still is. |

| I am going. I got a "king" room at the Hyatt and pre-registered. |

Wow, the convention is really expanding their programming for what I remember in the past.

In the PDF they have stuff in the Hyatt of course, but they also have:
2 panel rooms in Embassy Suites
3 panel rooms and 2 autograph rooms in the convention center

| I find it amazing that they just don't move the whole darn thing into the convention center. With 10k attendees at $40 a head, they have to be able to afford it. |

Well 15,000 x 45 = $675,000
So that is quite a large sum of money. There are a lot of hidden costs involved that probably take big chunk of it. I remember reading or seeing something the con chair said about the stage/video/sound aspects of the concerts, dances, and other events taking a sizable chunk of the budget.
Other aspects like the hotels wanting ACEN to pay for their facilities (eg. the Hyatt grand ballroom and such) are probably factors too. |
